Less than a week to go!

5 little hacks to increase your word numbers.

  • Always write full contractions. Don’t = do not. Can’t = can not. I’ll = I will. You will be amazed how often contractions pop up in your writing and this doubles the word count!
  • Every time your scene shifts, write a descriptive detailed account of the surroundings. This helps me to visualize my story better as well.
  • Back stories on characters. Remember NaNoWriMo isn’t about creating a final edited product, this is about writing! Give your characters depth, especially protagonists. What is their motivation for their actions against your hero?
  • Descriptions of the food, heraldry, and religious ceremonies. Hey it worked for George R.R. Martin!
  • Always stop at an exciting point. This comes from the NaNoWriMo site but I am a total believer! If you leave your writing at an exciting point, when you come back you will be excited to finish that scene, and that jump starts your writing session.

What about you? Any tips helpful hints or hacks to help win?
