If you are a reader of a certain age you will remember going to the library and going through stacks of catalog cards looking for a book. You might have learned the dewy decimal system at the same time. Well the bell has tolled, those days are over.
Online Computer Library Center, the last company to make the catalog card, has printed the last batch. The company was originally set up to help libraries coordinate resources, especially for the daunting task of creating and maintaining the library catalog cards. At the time they had to be hand created, either typed or hand written. Now digital technology has replaced the humble catalog card.
